In 2015, the United Nations established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve by 2030. These Goals call for global action to end extreme poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment, address climate change, and encourage good governance, peace and security.

When Murdoch University was established, it adopted important values that included equity and social justice, sustainability, global responsibility, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Much of Murdoch's research has since reflected these core principles.

In 2019, Murdoch University became the first university in Western Australia to sign the University Commitment to the SDGs - an agreement "that affirms the university’s intention to support and promote the SDGs through their research, education and operations, as well as report on activities in support of the Goals."

Click on the Goals below to see just some of Murdoch's research that is supporting these Goals by contributing to the knowledge base required to achieve these important global aims.

Note to Murdoch University researchers: Please let us know if you have any publications in the Repository that you believe align to a Goal or Goals and we will link them if we haven’t already.
