Abstract
According to the Sam Rainsy Party, this reflects a CPP vote-buying campaign, in which SRP commune councillors were offered US$1,500 each to vote for the CPP party list at the provincial and district level.4 The indirect election process entrenches the hold of the Cambodian People's Party over Cambodian politics. According to the Sam Rainsy Party, the 2006 border deal has not stopped Vietnamese encroachment onto Cambodian soil, and the party has long conducted activist campaigns in the area, including mass "invasions" by unarmed crowds of SRP supporters into supposedly Vietnamese territory.
