Video has been used as an analysis tool in a wide range of research settings and paradigms. This paper describes a computer program developed for the purpose of coding QuickTime movies on a computer desktop. Events in these movies can then be coded for analysis by means of user-defined categories. Each event that is coded in a category is called an instance. Text can be attached to each instance and this text can be searched. Instances identified as a result of this search can then be used to create new movies. Movies can be created from all instances within each category.
