Summary

Scotland is managing conservation through identifying special areas requiring special conservation attention. Many grant schemes are available to land owners to change the face of the countryside in a variety of ways, although many are based on timber production and conservation. Emphasis is often on the creation of new woodlands and ponds, but management of existing features is also considered.
