WISALTS column

(1988) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 9 June 1988. p. 6 [Publication] [Special Collections]

The National Soil Conservation Programme has funded the publication of a leaflet titled "Soil Structure Decline", produced by the Division of Resource Management and the Information Section of the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. The leaflet points out the age of the soils in Western Australia and their susceptibility to losing structure, and follows by answering questions on what is meant by soil structure, soil structure decline, which soil types are most affected, causes of decline, improving damaged soils and how to avoid soil structure decline. One of the most important starting points for farmers is to know your soil and its capabilities, its strengths and weaknesses and what it needs to improve its productivity.
