Successful local salinity programs to go nationwide

(1988) Successful local salinity programs to go nationwide. Benalla Ensign, 15 November 1988. p. 1 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Salinity control methods pioneered by the Warrenbayne Boho Land Protection Group near Benalla will be used to begin a national program. Minister for Conservation, Forests and Lands, Kay Setches visited Benalla last week and announced that Victoria's successful LandCare program would go national. The Federal Government proposes to use the LandCare program as the model for the rest of Australia as a sub-program within the National Soil Conservation Department. Ms Setches said the government recognised that dry land salinity was a long term project, and therefore the number of LandCare programs will be increased.
