A major study of the problem of acidification of Australia's soils which has been commissioned under the National Soil Conservation Programme. The study will be conducted jointly through the CSIRO, the New South Wales Department of Agriculture, the Victorian Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Riverina Murray Institute of Higher Education. The assistant director of the Department of Primary Industry's Forestry and Land Resources branch, Robin Bryant said approval for funding of the study had been given by the Minister for Primary Industry, Mr Kerin.
