Soil conservation is his life
(1987) Soil conservation is his life. Elders Weekly, 23 April 1987. p. 6 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Announcement of the retirement of Graham Spencer, former Commissioner of Soil Conservation and Chief of the Department of Agriculture's Soils Division from 1970 to 1981. Mr Spence has seen the soil conservation service grow from three or four advisers, surveying contour banks and providing supervision for the associated earthworks to a fully integrated service concerned with all aspects of land degradation. During his time as commissioner, Mr Spencer oversaw the rapid expansion of services by the Soils Division, including the disbanding of the old North-West Division and the integration of the rangeland management services into the Soils Division.
