Saltland project

(1987) Saltland project. Elders Weekly, 29 January 1987. p. 7 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Twenty farmers in the Wickepin Shire will take part in the second year of a National Soil Conservation Programme project to establish saltland management or bush regeneration demonstration areas on their properties. The project, which has received funding of $12,000 from the NSCP will permit fencing off around salt-affected and bush land to encourage natural regeneration. Many of the fenced off areas will be planted with salt-tolerant trees such as flat-topped yates, salt sheoak, salt river gum and river red gum.
