WISALTS column
(1986) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 20 February 1986. p. 97 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Three years and (three days) ago the first WISALTS column appeared in the Elders Weekly. The Society would like to record its very great appreciation to Elders Weekly in allocating space for the column in each issue over the last three years. The column's purpose is mainly two-fold. Firstly, readers are informed of some of the activities and aims of the Whittington Interceptor Salt Affected Land Treatment Society Incorporated (WISALTS). The secondary aim is to endeavour to increase awareness in readers of the need for conservation, mainly on an agricultural theme, but sometimes the column turns to conservation on a wider front. The society currently has over 900 members, mostly in Western Australia, but some in Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. WISALTS is constantly aware of increasing knowledge through experience in the field and is involved in research projects at Dangin, Narrogin and Denbarker. The projects at Narrogin and Dangin involve the Department of Agriculture of Western Australia.
