WISALTS column
(1986) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 16 January 1986. p. 7 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
"Have the courage to change the things that you can change, the serenity to accept the things you can't change, and the wisdom to tell them apart." These words are included in a list of suggestions for new habits to help you become less of a Type A person. Type A people are intense, striving, highly competitive, easly angered and whose lives are work or task centred. Which means that Type A people have twice the risk of heart disease as Type B (easygoing, relaxed, unhurried) people. A set of five cards about stress and how to manage it have been produced by the Education Unit of Western Australia in association with its South Australian counterpart. Stress is probably an odd thing to be talking about when many farmers are relaxing on holiday, but January tends to be one of the more relaxed months in the farming year when you have (perhaps!) time to take stock and do what you can do to reduce stress in your life. If one thing causing you stress is lack of water control on your farm, take the positive step of contacting WISALTS!
