Broadband compact simple ladder PCML filter with rectangular centre resonator

Esa, M., Marimuthu, J. and Syed Yusof, S.K. (2008) Broadband compact simple ladder PCML filter with rectangular centre resonator. In: 2008 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP'08), 27 - 30 October 2008, Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), Taipei, Taiwan

Demands for compact broadband filters compatible with printed circuits board in many communication systems are recently increasing. However, the filter size is usually constrained by the number and size of resonators. The filter bandwidth is usually constrained by the achievable maximum coupling between these resonators. Various compact resonator structures have been reported [1]-[2]. Parallel-coupled microstrip line (PCML) structure has been used as a coupling component in the design of bandpass filters [3]. A broadband bandpass filter of PCML structure can be realized by employing high coupling parallel-coupled line of narrower width and gap. The overall PCML coupling factor can be further enhanced by using feeding network with small characteristic impedance. A ground plane aperture technique for PCML structure has been proposed and developed to enhance the operating bandwidth of a broadband bandpass filter [4]. The design requires a ground plane aperture and a pair of capacitive open-ended stubs…
