WISALTS field day

(1986) WISALTS field day. Elders Weekly, 7 August 1986. p. 9 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

An open day to have a look at the progress on the WISALTS research site on the Erskine farming property at Denbarker which will be held on Monday 11 August 1986. WISALTS President Lex Hardie will be present; there will be photographs dating from 1971 on display and farmer Jim Erskine will be available to discuss the project. After inspection of the research site, an opportunity will be given to look at other WISALTS work on the farm. Surveying, planning and bulldozing of the site was done in February 1985 after local farmers chose the site for WISALTS in August 1984. Plastic sheeting was installed initially and some further throughflows were sealed in Autumn 1986. Soil and water tests are being done by CSBP and farmers four times each year, with local farmers gathering the samples.
