WISALTS column
(1986) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 18 September 1986. p. 72 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
This column doesn't usually deal with women's issues, but perhaps rural women can be the exception. The Minister for Primary Industry, John Kerin, announced some time ago (15 April 1986), that $100,000 would be made available in this financial year (1986/87) to fund projects aimed at improving access of women in rural and provincial areas to employment, training and general services. The Federal Government has a policy of advancing the status of women generally, and this programme recognises that women in those residential areas are often more disadvantaged than their city counterparts in terms of job opportunities, and access to employment training and general services.
