WISALTS column
(1986) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 20 November 1986. p. 12 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
A discussion paper, "Conservation of Native Vegetation in Farming Areas", was recently sent to WISALTS by the Premier of Western Australia, with an invitation to comment. The paper was developed by one of the shortest-lived bodies in the state: the Land Resource Policy Council was formed in April 1985 and no longer exists. Chairman, M.J. Mulcahy points out in the preface to the paper that the need for conservation and replanting of native vegetation in the farming areas of the state was one of the early issues taken up by the Council and a workshop held in August provided a forum for discussion which lead to the construction of the paper from a committee of the Council. Farmers are encouraged to read the paper and comment on some of the key recommendations. The WISALTS committee is preparing a submission on behalf of the Society's 900 plus members to send to the Premier, and is appreciative of the invitation to do so.
