Professor Thad Box, Dean of the College of Natural Resources at Utah State University, internationally-recognised authority on the ecology and management of arid lands and conservationist, is spending three months attached to the Department of Agriculture's Resource Management Division. During his visit, funded by the Australian Wool Corporation, he will examine the organisation, responsibilities and motivation of the growing number of Soil Conservation Districts in Western Australia. Professor Box has previously worked with CSIRO in Canberra and Perth and last year attended the International Rangeland Management Conference in Adelaide.
