Erosion experts to test the WA wind

Carr, J. (1985) Erosion experts to test the WA wind. Daily News, 25 February 1985. p. 8 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Western Australia has the only wind erosion research unit working in Australia. The combination of bad farming and wind, makes Western Australian farms highly susceptible to loss. A third to about half of Western Australia's wheat farmers had adopted minimum tillage, which was remarkable as this had only been seriously recommended since 1980. Important considerations for farmers with the world greenhouse effect issue, is that they have to watch stocking, cropping and cultivation intensities, keeping soils with vegetation on them and a good soil structure.
