Soil conservation funding increased

(1986) Soil conservation funding increased. The Queensland Graingrower, 27 August 1986. p. 14 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Funding of the National Soil Conservation Program (NSCP) will increase by $850,000 to $5.5 million in 1986/87. This represents an 18 per cent increase in funds for the program. Primary Industry Minister John Kerin said he was pleased the program has received increased funding in real terms despite substantial cutbacks in many other areas of expenditure. Further allocations under the state's component includes Western Australia receiving $846,000 and Queensland $866,000. In addition to these funds, each state has an obligation under the NSCP arrangements to at least maintain its own expenditure on soil conservation in real terms.
