WISALTS column

(1985) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 25 July 1985. p. 10 [Publication] [Special Collections]

WISALTS column discusses the state's agricultural areas experiencing the lack of rainfall, with falls still well below average for early July. Work in progress at the February open day included the installation of plastic sheeting in a number of places in the existing banks on the site to stop deeper throughflows. This technique proved effective immediately in that the water rose in the banks up to four days after the installation. Soil and water samples were taken in April for processing by C.S.B.P. Photographs and rainfall totals are being taken and collected by the Erskine family at marked spots on the site of the WISALTS trial site research project.
