WISALTS column

(1985) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 20 June 1985. p. 6 [Publication] [Special Collections]

WISALTS column discusses the early settlers and soil erosion issues noted in correspondence and publications from around 1853. A set of three project sheets being circulated to schools in Western Australia include the history section of the first sheet which reminds students that before British settlement, Australian Aborigines successfully lived off the land for 40,000 years. The project sheets note that farming methods used in Britain and Europe proved unsuccessful in the Australian landscape.
