Channel part of an overall scheme

(1985) Channel part of an overall scheme. The West Australian, 14 August 1985. [Publication] [Special Collections]

A proposed $31 million Dawesville channel could dramatically boost the flushing capability of the Harvey Estuary. According to the environmental review and management programme, a channel 1.6 kilometres long and 200 metres wide could increase the estuary's flushing rate fourfold and halve the amount of phosphorous feeding algae. Implementing the recommended management strategy is the best option in restoring the Peel Inlet and Harvey Estuary to a healthy condition.
