In cash and kind

Lloyd, D. (1985) In cash and kind. Elders Weekly, 12 September 1985. pp. 4-5 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Feature of the Kimberley and in particular, a unique Derby property, Birdwood Downs, which in seven years has demonstrated an ability to work within ecological guidelines producing results beyond the dreams of the first settlers in this tough corner of Western Australia. Savannah Systems Pty Ltd is an off-shoot of the London-based Institute of Ecotechnics and its interest is in tropical pasture development part of a programme which incorporates other types of vegetation. A brief history of Birdwood Downs, introduces the general manager, Robyn Treadwell, chairman and chief agronomist of Ecotechnics, Mark Nelson, and Rob Newing, the third team member at Savannah.

This article contains three images: a farm building at Birdwood Downs; Roger Norrish from Elders Pastural, Derby and Mark Nelson looking over some of the improved pastures and inspecting some pasture growth.
