Summary

Gavin Drew started installing the Interceptor Banks System on his Gingin property in 1977, he started taking photographs of the area a year later. These photographs were on display at an open day on his property. Dr Roger Boyd, a plant breeder, and guest speaker at the open day, said he was impressed with what he had seen happen as a result of the system on Mr Drew's property. Dr Boyd said that he and his team are trying to find varieties of wheat and barley tolerant of salinity and waterlogging, a method of ridge planting of barley combined with irrigation is being trialled.
