Attending seminars, workshops and conferences, reading articles, reports and other literature is important to learn what measures and methods of soil conservation are being used. Acting early is crucial and was part of the programme at the recent surveyors school session on recognising the early signs of soil deterioration. Farmers from Western Australia and from the eastern states spent time recently in the Kellerberrin and Tammin areas learning the fundamentals of planning and surveying the interceptor bank system.
