The proposal regarding the formation of the Land Resource Policy Council has been referred to a committee of inquiry into statutory planning, and the proposal will also be used as a basis for discussion with local authorities and other organisations during the inquiry. Dr Mulcahy, one of the task force members, is to visit country shires to discuss the land use planning concepts outlined in the report of the task force. The State Government has implemented the proposal to form a new Department of Natural Land Management, other proposals include the formation of a Department of Urban and Rural Planning, with support and co-ordination of land use planning by local authorities based on the Town Planning Department.
