Summary
WISALTS column discusses the NSCP, the national soil conservation programme and Howard S. Briggs, a member of the taskforce, endeavouring to ensure the success of the programme. Mr Briggs is on secondment from the Queensland Department of Primary Industry. On a visit to Western Australia recently, he was impressed by the enthusiasm amongst landholders, local authorities, government and university for doing something about the land degradation and the extent and severity of soil salinity of the south west of the state.
