'We were at fault in Manjimup' : Burke

(1984) 'We were at fault in Manjimup' : Burke. Western Farmer and Grazier, May 1984. p. 21 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

The Premier and Forests Minister Brian Burke admitted the government was at fault in not properly explaining the community impact of its proposals for pine plantations in the Manjimup shire. Opposition to the programme and uncertainty about it within the shire was major reason of the running dispute among farmers, conservationists, timbermen and the government. A full-scale briefing for council representatives to outline the government's agroforestry proposals will be held next month and carried out by Agriculture and Forests Departments and CSIRO officers.
