Draft action plan released

A draft update of Western Australia's Salinity Action Plan which is now available for public review, with the final update plan expected to be released in May. Alex Campbell, State Salinity Council chairman, said the Salinity Action Plan would give direction for action through a partnership between agencies, State Government, landholders and the community. Mr Campbell said the 1998 draft update has involved community groups throughout the South-West in the development of the plan and reflects the increased awareness of salinity and methods to tackle it.
