Task force to help farmers manage
Markey, R. (1994) Task force to help farmers manage. The West Australian, 25 November 1994. p. 7 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Prime Minister Paul Keating has announced a new task force to help farmers manage their land. The land management task force would report to Prime Minister Keating at the end of May next year, recommending ways to improve sustainable production on Australian farms. Mr Keating was speaking at the opening of the national strategies conference in Sydney, and said it was clear that the farm sector needs to deal better with the drought and land and water resources. He also said while the strength and flexibility of the economy is fundamental to this goal, a strong economy will not by itself generate a strong society, or a compassionate and creative one.
