The Salinity Pilot Program Advisory Council is encouraging more groups to be formed in the Rochester, Girgarre and Echuca West areas. The Advisory Council's key role is endorsing community action for government support. The community approach to solving land degradation problems appears to be catching on. Since farmer and community representatives on the council come from both irrigation and dryland areas, they have had to work together to understand each others problems.
