Letter to the editor

Walder, L.S. Letter to the editor. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Letter to the editor feature shares the view of L.S. Walder of Joondanna.
Mr. Walder explains that he was a resident and ratepayer in Merredin shire for 50 years and witnessed all phases of development since 1922.
Mr. Walder discusses concerns about the disastrous floods of 1978-1979 in Merredin, saying that no land had been cleared east of Booran as far east as the WA-SA border, with all South Merredin uncleared for a distance of eight kilometres.
Mr. Walder questions the decision by the State Government to contract Professor J.W. Holmes of Flinders University to advise on measures to solve problems in this state.
Professor Holmes condemns the work being done by WISALTS which is clear proof that Professor Holmes has no idea how the interceptor system operates.
Mr. Walder continues to say that any suggestion to curb the efforts of Mr. Harry Whittington by Professor Holmes should be regarded as an insult to the average intelligence to the farming and grazing community of Western Australia.
