Blame for salinity
Robertson, G. Blame for salinity. The West Australia, [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Letter from Graeme Robertson, Commissioner of Soil Conservation, Department of Agriculture, responding to Graeme Robertson of Byford who blamed Western Australian farmers for the salt problem and this has caused confusion since some people attributed it to Graeme Robertson, the Commissioner.
Mr. Robertson said that one must accept that it is clearing of land for farming that has caused land and stream salinity, the blame cannot be placed solely on farmers.
Mr. Robertson said that the responsibility of the community, both rural and urban, is to realise the extent of this cost and to take positive action now to arrest the problems of salinity and land degradation and to restore the damage.
