Summary
Soils workshop feature discusses better knowledge about water and the way it behaves with different soil types is essential before any understanding of salinity problems and practice soil conservation properly.
Professor Lex Parker from the Department of Soil Science at the University of Western Australia, speaking at a half-day soil conservation workshop organised by the Policy and Research Committee of the National Country Party, placed the emphasis on the need for more research into water shed and storage in different soil types.
