Summary

Article discusses a massive project involving geotextiles is being carried out at Surfers Paradise to eliminate a dangerous bar at the entrance to the Broadwater lagoon where the Nerang River enters the ocean.
A new channel is being created across the spit at the southern end of the Broadwater and once complete the existing channel between the spit and South Stradbroke Island will be closed off.
