Article discusses the spread of salt which is affecting vast areas of prime farming land and now moving into country towns.
Kellerberrin, in the heart of some of the most heavily cleared land in the state, is one of the towns seriously affected by salt.
A number of reported sections of Kellerberrin including the foundations of the hospital being salt-encrusted and damaged, the sanctuary of a stone church appears to be breaking away from the main structure; the sports oval is being replanted with salt-tolerant grass and the main street has 'dipped' where it passes over an underground stream, are showing serious damage.
A local farmer, Ray Gunn, first reported the salt encroachment into town, saying that the massive clearings had caused the underground systems to overload and break through the surface bringing salt with it.
Kellerberrin shire clerk Tim Bunney said the shire was aware of the problem and was now conscious of where new buildings were sited.

This article contains two photographs, one image of Ray Gunn standing on a chair showing damage to the sanctuary section of the church; one image of Ray Gunn hold a divining wire in a paddock.
