Subsoiling salt land

Dadd,, E.S. Subsoiling salt land. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Article from E.S. Dadd of Erikin, discusses the interest he had taken in Mr. Ron Whitehead's sub soiling salt lands and relating his experience for his own property in support of Mr. Whitehead's idea.
Mr. Dadd visited Mr. Whitehead's property in 1944 and was impressed by the results.
The paddock which Mr. Dadd chose to use was one on which salt patches had appeared on 15 years prior to 1944.
Mr. Dadd had tried several methods recommended to bring the paddock back, such as leaving them uncultivated, covering with stable manure, sand and haystack refuse, but all without result, in fact the patches began to increase in size.
The article includes a brief history of rainfall for the area and methods Mr. Dadd used for testing.
