Field day at Brookton
(1970) Field day at Brookton. 14 October 1970. [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Article explains the field day held at Mr. H. Whittington's property at Brookton, arranged by the Pingelly-Wandering Group.
The small but interested group inspected a revolutionary salt land reclamation project.
A massive system of banks placed closed together controlled all the water that fell on the paddock above the salt area.
No special salt tolerant grasses had been sown, nor in fact had any special pasture been sown.
The mixture of clover and grasses had gradually spread back over the waste land.
