Article outlines the Reserve Bank giving $18,500 for a project at Helena Valley aimed at reconciling forestry with farming.
The project will involve grazing sheep under 14 year old pine trees to assess the combined growth of pastures and pines.
The Minister for Forests, Mr. Ridge said that the project was part of a research programme by the Forests Department, the CSIRO and the Public Works Department, and was considered to be a vital part of research into salinity problems in Western Australia.
The development of new forest practices. the management of water catchment areas and the study of multiple land use techniques was important, Mr. Ridge said.
