Invited to take part in project

(1977) Invited to take part in project. The Pingelly-Brookton Leader, 18 May 1977. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Article explains that Brookton farmer, Mr. H, Whittington has been invited to take part in a soil conservation project to compare his approach with that of the Agriculture Department.
The Member for Narrogin and Minister for Education, Mr. Peter Jones said Mr. Whittington will liaise with the Department of Agriculture in designing the project.
Mr. Jones said that Mr. Whittington has been using a series of soil conservation measures on his property to combat salt encroachment and erosion, and has gone about this in a thorough and painstaking manner and is seeing good results for his efforts.
The project will help give impetus to the Departments' role, particularly when farmers realise how similar the approaches are in circumstances such as those on Mr. Whittington's own farm.
