Coarse grain men want protection from violent price fluctuations

(1977) Coarse grain men want protection from violent price fluctuations. The Farmers Weekly, 17 February 1977. p. 6 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

The president of the Coarse Grains section, Mr. Harry Whittington told the annual conference that coarse grain producers are seeking protection for their industry from the violent fluctuations in production and price.
Mr. Whittington said this had arisen from rumblings that wheat quotas may be re-introduced with the matter being briefly discussed with the Grain Pool which could now sell twice as much barley as it received.
Attempts had been made to improve communication between the producer, Grain Pool and the CBH when grain did not meet standards and there appeared to be a need to open a second pool.
