Listed nominees for the position left vacant with the retirement of Don Eckersley include a surprise nomination of former Country Party Member for Moore, Don Maisey.
Nominees also include Wolfe Boetcher, senior vice-president, chairman of the union's Commercial Activities Committee and Communications Director, and elected on the Australian Farmers Federation executive.
Further nominees are Harry Whittington, chairman of the Coarse Grains and Rural Finance and Adjustments Committees, a member of the council and Rural Water and Soil Conservation Committee; John Walsh former junior and senior vice-president; Ernie Skinner, junior vice-president, producer representative on the Agriculture Protection Board and a member of the Rural Water and Soil Conservation Committee.
