'Monitoring from May to early July showed no water in the shallow or intermediate bores'

Lewis, T.J. (1978) 'Monitoring from May to early July showed no water in the shallow or intermediate bores'. Western Farmer and Grazier, 12 October 1978. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Response to Mr. H.S. Whittington's letter published, September 21,1978 which casts doubt on the accuracy of the data collecting techniques and the integrity of the offices of the Public Works Department.
T.J. Lewis submits that in 1976 the Public Works Department commenced one of a number of long-term investigations into the effects of partial reforestation as a technique for reducing the salinity of salt affected streams.
The area chosen for initial plantings and groundwater monitoring was a site in the upper reaches of the Bingham River valley.
Further plantings and groundwater drilling were carried out in 1977 and 1978, with all groundwater bores measured monthly.
