Summary

Article explains that an open meeting arranged by the Codjatotine Branch of the National Country Party was held at Pumphreys Bridge with around 50 people attending, those including Mr. R.C. Old, Minister for Agriculture; Mr. Peter Jones, Minister for Education,; Mr. Mick Gayfer, M.L.C. and Mrs. Gayfer, and Mr. Peter Mayo. Executive Director of the National Country Party.
The meeting saw Mr. Old addressing the audience on matters relating to his portfolio which encompasses 66 Acts of Parliament and 12 Statutory Boards and is the largest in the State Government.
Mr. Old spoke about meat marketing and how the expanded Western Australian Meat Commission was to operate in the future, and he also spoke about the Government supporting a policy of unlimited live sheep exports.
Mr. Peter Mayo spoke on what has happened to the National Country Party and gave an informative summary of the events leading up to the last State Conference and the split in the ranks of the party.
The chairman, Mr. Alf Marshall thanked the guests for being able to attend in view of their busy timetables.
