Watershed clearing restrictions: Court puts the Government's case on water salinity

(1979) Watershed clearing restrictions: Court puts the Government's case on water salinity. The Farmers Weekly, 8 February 1979. p. 11 [Document] [Special Collections]

Article discusses Sir Charles Court addressing the annual conference of the Pastoralists and Graziers.
Premier Court put the State Government's case forward for the imposition of land clearing restrictions, which he said, everyone knew land clearing for agriculture near catchment areas increased salinity of rivers.
Sir Charles said the Government is doing the right thing and when producers see what is happening in practice, they will realise that things are not as bad as they look, and producers had to accept that something had to be done.

This article contains a portrait of Premier Court.
