McPharlin, W.R. (1979) Politicians and land clearing. The Farmers Weekly, 8 February 1979. pp. 5-7 [Document] [Special Collections]

Summary

Letter response from W.R. McPharlin, MLA, Member for Mount Marshall regarding the land rights of farmers which the Union claims to represent.
Comments addressed that many members of Parliament will hitch a ride on the Union bandwagon to gain political mileage.
Mr. McPharlin states that through his efforts by introducing Mr. H. Whittington to the then Minister for Water Supply, Mr. R.J. O'Connor, a trial project of an interceptor bank system was installed in the Batalling Creek area, which has already shown encouraging results.
Mr. McPharlin says that he has supported Mr. Whittington and WISALTS since the inception of this organisation, with many rank and file members of the Union actively engaged in installing the Whittington bank system.
Me. McPharlin says that he believes what is needed is a wider representation from the farming industry to advise on the problems of farmers.
