Summary

Article discusses the National Country Party supporting the general principles of the Country Areas Water Supply Act Amendment Bill in the government's land clearing legislation.
Acting Leader Mr. Peter Jones, MLA, said the National Country Party welcomes the Minister for Works and Water Supplies, Mr. MacKinnon's intentions to review the guidelines covering the way the legislation will be implemented.
Mr. Jones, the Member for Narrogin and Minister for Education said although public meetings called to discuss the Amendment Bill. few people had been critical of the need to have some control over land clearing.
Mr. Jones suggested that it should be part of every good farmer's forward planning to have some balanced control over land clearing.
National Country Party MLC, Mrs. Win Piesse said that many farmers were still not fully aware of the taxation concessions available to them for soil conservation expenditure.
