Wisalts push Merredin flooding plan

(1979) Wisalts push Merredin flooding plan. Western Farmer and Grazier, 22 February 1979. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Article discusses the WISALTS group recommending that a series of interceptor banks be installed on the high ground outside Merredin to avoid a repeat of the previous week's flood damage.
The flash flood caused by 70 millimetres of rain would have been averted by the use of properly planned water control systems, the WISALTS group said.
Interceptor banks should be installed from the crest of the hill at every three metres to hold surface and sub-surface water.
