Summary

Article explains a major confrontation between farmers and the government is expected following legislation rushed through Parliament prohibiting the clearing of land without a licence.
The farmers affected are those in the Warren, Kent and Denmark Rivers and the Wellington Dam catchment areas.
The Farmers Union executive will discuss the development which is causing serious concern to the farmers within the areas.
Farmers are expected to meet to air their opposition with the Minister for Works and Water Supplies, Mr. G.C. MacKinnon at Chowerup and Perillup.
Farmers Union counsel, Mr. Patrick Gethin described farmers in water catchment areas as victims of bad law and little justice, and condemned the failure of the government to allow affected farmers the opportunity to object to the inclusion of their land in any of the areas.
