Meeting calls for swifter action for erosion

(1979) Meeting calls for swifter action for erosion. The Queensland Graingrower, 21 February 1979. p. 17 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Article explains that at a Jondaryan meeting attended by 82 people last week, the Queensland Graingrowers Association was urged to press the State Government for swifter action to combat soil erosion in Southern Queensland.
The motion, moved by local grower, Lindsay Richards, wants the Association's State Council to give its full support to a report on soil conservation administration and financing.
Soil conservation loans; increased Government support for local authorities undertaking works of special benefit; establishment of a fully independent soil and water conservation authority were included in the same resolution.
On the southern tour referred to in the resolution, Mr. Stirling went as chairman of the Queensland Advisory Group Committee.

This article includes a portrait of Mr. Stirling.
