Summary
The Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Dick Old said it was untrue that Department of Agriculture officers were prevented from helping farmers wanting to try the Whittington interceptor method of salt control.
Mr. Old also denied that officers were discouraged from attending Mr. Whittington's field days, telling the Farmers' Union Katanning Zone Council that department officers were encouraged to attend all field days on salt problems , no matter who held them.
Mr. Old said that he saw the work done on Mr. Whittington's property and added that interceptor banks were costly to install.
